This modification was designed to improve the Digitech PDS 1002. Similar PDS series pedals such as the PDS 1000, PDS 2000, PDS 8000, and PDS 20/20 are all good candidates for the Overhaul Modification as described below.
The Digitech PDS 1002 was really ahead of its time for being a digital delay stompbox with 2 seconds of delay and a hold footswitch for infinite repeats. These pedals have a dedicated following and after 25 years of use they show their age. The switches work intermittently, the jacks short out, the pots are scratchy, the DC jack is an old ⅛” connector. Our Overhaul Modification builds upon what makes this pedal great and brings new life to it. We install soft touch switches for added reliability over the stock, plastic footswitches. The DC jack is converted to a standard “Boss style” barrel connector. While apart we clean the jacks, pots, and replace the aging power filter capacitors. We upgrade key components in the audio path to retain audio fidelity. If that wasn’t enough we also remove the input gain control and convert it to function as a high cut knob allowing you to have more natural sounding loops. For $10 extra we can also swap the red LEDs for bright (but not blinding) blue LEDs.
