The Boss DF-2 Super Distortion & Feedbacker (sometimes labeled the Super Feedbacker & Distortion) is a distortion pedal with a built in “feedback” function. The feedback is an overtone created by sampling your guitar when you hold down the footswitch. It’s definitely unique, but there are a few problems when using it.
- The distortion is not nearly as good as most other distortion pedals on the market. Many guitarists would prefer to just use their amp’s distortion.
- There is no “clean” setting; With the gain all of the way down there still is some breakup and distortion.
- The guitar and the feedback effect share the Level, Tone, and Gain knobs. This can be a big problem when trying to balance the volume of the guitar and feedback effect.
The Overhaul Modification that we offer removes the distortion circuit from your guitar’s signal so that it only effects the Feedback part of the pedal. The pedal becomes only a Feedback pedal and when it is activated your guitar’s tone is unchanged. You can even have a clean guitar with distorted feedback! The Level, Tone, Gain, and Overtone knobs all will only effect the feedback and leave the guitar unchanged. When you depress the footswitch the overtone is generated until you release the footswitch.
The Vibrato Kill toggle switch is mounted on the back of the pedal and allows you to turn off the vibrato effect that is present on the feedback. The Siren toggle switch makes the vibrato more intense to the point that the oscillations sound like a siren. Check out these two toggle switch mods in the second video posted below.
